To continue the success and celebration of their brand, Air Jordan has now uncovered the shoes that will mark another milestone for their 30th anniversary celebration – the Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Rare Air”.
Going back from where it started, the shoe that started the Jordan Brand is obviously, the Air Jordan 1. With an original design by Peter Moore and officially released in 1985, the AJ1 remains to be the very first signature shoes of Michael Jordan. The original versions of the shoes came in on KO editions, high top or low top ones. After the 80s, the AJ1s became Retro and was released again in 1994. Jordan Brand’s AJ1 might have been just another Retro High release for their 30th brand anniversary but it’s not really your expected AJ1. With a little bit of twist, the Air Jordan Retro High “Rare Air” says bye to its customary black leather “wings” logo and does away with the “Air Jordan” lettering placed on both collars instead. Just like its namesake, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Rare Air sports pretty rare features for AJ1 like its removable, Velcro-patched tongue tag with design details similar to Jordan 4s. Nonetheless, the AJ1 “Rare Air” would still have the trademark insignias of Swooshes and Jumpman in blazing shades of red. A logo for their 30th Anniversary celebration will also be included in the insoles. While the ankle collar, toe cap, and heel counter go with tumbled leather. The Retro High “Rare Air” AJ1 is a hybrid of sorts in a way since it also uses an AJ2 sole tooling for its AJ1 upper.
The inaugural comeback of the AJ1 Retro High Rare Air was heralded with the Chicago Bulls team-inspired colors. The new collection though, now sports a more daring and stylish colorway of Black/Red, Black/Elephant, Black/White-Red, Grey/Black, and Red Elephant color.
With the hybrid look of the AJ2 sole tooling and the similar tongue tag design on AJ4 on the classic silhouette form of the AJ1, be sure to watch out for Sneaker news and Jordan release date of the iconic Rare Air as it becomes available worldwide in Jordan Brand Stores.
