Quick – what is the first thing you think about when you hear the words “leap year?” February 29 is one but the Olympics should be a close second as every 4 years, this prestigious event calls on every country to submit their best people in certain sports.
Air Jordan 7 Tinker Alternate
Color:White/Metallic Gold Coin-Deep Royal Blue-Fire Red-Lite Iron Ore
Release Date:August 16, 2016
In celebration of the 2016 Olympics, Nike throws in their contribution with the creation of the Air Jordan 7 “Tinker Alternate”. The truth is that there is already an Air Jordan 7 “Olympics” shoe colorway and the Tinker Alternate is essentially an alternate version of the Olympics. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the shoes carry the signature colors of the Olympics combined with the ingenuous quality that only comes from Jordan brand products.
Sneaker News has released several photos of this particular colorway and it is easy to see why Nike has approved the design for the 2016 Olympics. Done primarily in white, the shoes have dark blue as its secondary color and highlighted by some red and just a smidge of yellow. The dark blue covers strategic patches of the silhouette, thus creating the illusion of depth and texture for the kicks. The red occupies just a small part of the shoes, primarily just the edging of the soles as Nike still went for dark blue when it comes to the outsole.
Although no frontal or back pictures have been shown yet, it is clear that the tongue is also done in blue with the words “Air Jordan” placed on the center. We are guessing the Jumpman logo is placed in there as well. From the sides, however, it is easy to see that same Jumpman logo done in muted yellow with dark blue as its background. As for the back, there is a hint of red there and hopefully another Jordan Brand or Nike logo. The laces are plain white which does not detract from the overall look of the kicks.
Considering how the Jordan releases 2016 for these shoes are a long way away, we are not blaming Nike from releasing just one picture for the press. Hopefully, as the release date draws near, there will be more images for would-be-buyers to use and determine whether they would want to be part of this year’s Olympics celebration by Nike. If you already love the design with what you have seen however – stay patient. The Tinker Alternate is set for release on August 16, 2016 – that is more than 6 months away. Price is set for $190.
