Originally released in 1990, Air Jordan 5s are one of Michael Jordan’s best performance shoes on the hardwood. Given MJ’s game zeal, Jordan Brand decided to create one collection that will become highly prized among athletes and collectors – the Air Jordan 5 Low GS.
Air Jordan 5 Retro Low
Color:Black/Gym Red-Metallic Hematite
Release Date:January 30, 2016
Slated for Jordan releases 2016, the AJ5 Low GS is also known as the Air Jordan 5 Low “Alternate 90” and is one of the trios designed for the Alternate Collection of Air Jordan Retros. This same sneaker is a nod to the classic Air Jordan 5 designed in low-top form. As a Player Exclusive, the Alternate Low GS Jordan 5 will be dressed in the customary colorways of the Chicago Bulls which would have been the sneakers that MJ wore at such a time.
The official Jordan release date of the Air Jordan 5 Low GS will be on January 30 and the date is looming in very soon for Jordan heads and fans.
Given the Chicago Bulls-inspired colorways, the Black, Red, and White color of the Alternate 90 is to be expected. But while some Air Jordans look clean and light with a lighter or a white premium leather upper, the Air Jordan 5 Low GS sports a full black leather upper with Red and White accents all throughout.
What makes the AJ5 Low GS even more notable is that its colorways are almost identical with the colors of Portland Trailblazers’ Derek Andderson, another Jordan Brand athlete that is often forgotten my most.
Up close, the Air Jordan 5 Alternate 90 looks dark with its black color yet shiny with the metallic addition and vibrant with the Red accents throughout. The Jumpman logo done in vibrant red is located on three different positions: the heel, the insole, and the tongue. The latter highlights the Jumpman against a metallic white background while the other two had it on black. The shoe is also designed with a bigger mesh-like pattern on the side. Finishing off the shoe is a translucent Gym Red outsole instead of the traditional icy blue outsole to complement the now updated lining of the AJ5 Low GS.
For those fans expecting the comeback of the Nike Air branding, they might be sad to know that the Air Jordan Low GS lack it. Nevertheless, the Air Jordan 5 Low Alternate 90 will become available on selected retail stores of Jordan Brand nationwide a day before January ends.
