It was in October last year when we first heard about the release of the Jordan Air Spike 40 Dunk From Above from Sneaker News. The shoes, along with others, will be part of the slated Jordan releases for 2016 dubbed as the “Dunk From Above” collection. Like other shoe collection from Jordan Brand, the Air Spike 40 will be going big and out on its releases. In fact, the first of the collection which is “Dunk From Above” itself will be sporting the classic and elegant colorways of gold, white, and navy.
Jordan Air Spike 40 Dunk From Above
Color:Gold Leaf/White-Midnight Navy
Release Date:March 9, 2016
The Spike 40 is perhaps one of the most awaited shoes for the Jordan releases 2016. For one, it happens to be the latest creation from Spike Lee who happens to have a very strong connection with his own Jordan model.
Generally, the Jordan Air Spike 40 looks like it was heavily influenced by Air Jordan 5s given its silhouette that is reminiscent of the latter collection. There is also the fact that the reflective material found on the lining of the shoes looks similar to Air Jordan shoes produced in the 1990s. Even the lacelock and the outsole’s clear detailing reminds Jordan heads of the 1990s Air Jordans.
Nevertheless, the Jordan Air Spike 40 Dunk From Above is not just a shoe with the right features. It works well on and off the court, too thanks to its Phylon midsole as well as the inclusion of Zoom Air technology right on the heels. Aside from bearing the name of Spike Lee and doing well with the aesthetic design, another noteworthy feature of the Air Spike 40 Jordan is the presence of the Nike Air branding which is located on the heels. As you know, the Nike Air logo is very much coveted with any release of Jordan brand shoes. This OG branding were never before seen except with the Air Jordan 3s through 6s.
The Jordan Air Spike 40 Dunk From Above is a prominent shoe dressed up in gold mesh upper with the addition of a unique zigzag textured synthetic detailing and reflective finish. There is also the funky Blackmon lace lock, the clean white midsole against the icy blue translucent midsole, and the tasteful placement of the white Jumpman logo in the insole and on the tongue.
The official dropping schedule of the Spike 40 Dunk From Above would be on March 9 so stay tuned for more updates as well as other similar sneaker news.
