For some time, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “David Letterman” was a mystery for sneaker lovers everywhere since there were no pictures to speak of but lots of promises that one will be released. Fortunately, Sneaker News finally got copies of the image and it must be said that the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “David Letterman” performs to expectations. It has the charm of a colorway that is bound to be dubbed a classic.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG David Letterman
Color:Light Crimson/Midnight Navy-University Blue-White
Release Date:April 30, 2016
The question here is: why is it called the David Letterman? It is not a reference to the host himself but rather, to the show where Michael Jordan appeared wearing a red and blue jumpsuit – hence the coloring of this new Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG.
It is a beautiful piece with a red leather exterior that practically covers every corner of the kicks. The blue is reserved for the interior of the shoes as well as the embossing of the Nike and Air Jordan icons along strategic portions of the shoes. The sides are adorned with the Swoosh logo and along the top, there is the Wings icon, also done in dark blue shades.
The body may be done mainly in red, but there is a depth to the design achieved by layering the leather together with stylish stitching. This way, there is actually texture and personality to the overall design.
The tongue is also in dark blue together with the laces. You will be glad to hear that the kicks come with an extra pair of laces, this one done in red the same shade as the shoes. This way, you can choose the ‘look’ you want when sporting these iconic sneakers.
The midsole are colored in clear white with the stitching beautifully blending into the overall design. An edging of the outsole can be seen, this one done in dark blue.
On the trim, you’ve got the sesame seed holes which is to be expected from this classic. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “David Letterman” from the back so we’re not sure how they approached this part of the shoes. Despite being one of the new Jordan releases 2016, however, we have faith that Air Jordan stayed true to the silhouette.
The price is set at $160 which is actually pretty average for an Air Jordan brand. With April 30 as its official release date, you still got plenty of time to decide!
