Now that May is just weeks away, Jordan Brand has already slated another sneaker to become part of their Jordan releases 2016 – the Air Jordan 12 Flu Game.
Air Jordan 12 Flu Game
Release Date:May 28, 2016
As Sneaker News has it, the newest Air Jordan 12 release is somewhat famed due to the fact that it plays an historic importance in MJ’s life in the hard court. That is, Michael Jordan suffered from flue and was having some serious symptoms. Still, he played for the Chicago Bulls and faced off the Utah Jazz in 1997 for the NBA Finals.
But of course, nothing – not even flu symptoms – can stop the legendary Jordan to making it to one of his greatest games. They went home victors with MJ scoring 38 points while wearing the Black and Red Air Jordan 12. At that time, the game was referred to as “The Flu Games” perhaps more so after Scottie Pippen had to help MJ to get off the court. Soon after, the sneaker took the name to commemorate such a memorable event.
In fact, the Flu Game AJ12 made such an impact showing MJ’s natural agility and striking performance on the court even when he’s ill that the shoes sold for $104,765 during an auction. As a sports memorabilia, it is a great price to have but fans and sneakerheads don’t have to cash out that much because the shoes will be available on retail by the end of May for just $190.
The original Air Jordan 12 Flu Game used a combination of Black and Red full-grain leather upper. The remastered version of the shoes when it went back on retail in 2009 did with a combination of however the traditional Red leather and a Black nubuck upper. This time around, Jordan Brand will be sticking as close to the OG by using a full leather upper.
So far, the look of the 2016 Air Jordan 12 Flu Game is so much likes the OG version from 1997. The two-toned color used in shoes is very obvious with the Black leather upper making a stark contrast against the Red croc faux pas combination. Even the midsole and outsole features the red and white combination which is a clean look for the AJ12 Flu Game.
Other notable features of the shoes are its black eyelets and laces, the “97/38” display on one side and the sick face print depicting the flu’s significance. The eyelets also sport little Jumpmans if you look too closely while a vibrant red Jumpman branding sits on the tongue with “Two3”.
