2016’s major Air Jordan releases of Jordan Brand’s twelfth officially got started when Michael Jordan’s legacy was honored with the retail debut of the retail debut of the Air Jordan 12 “Master” on February 27th. A little over a month later on April 2nd, the Air Jordan 12 Retro “French Blue” made its highly anticipated comeback. Surprisingly, the premium Air Jordan 12 “Wings” also hit the shelves on the same day, with just 12,000 pairs of the sneaker up for grabs. While the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Flu Game” is arriving this month, the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Gym Red” is also nearing its release date.
Back in April, some very clear photos of the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Gym Red” had surfaced, which provided a much better look at the sneaker. However, Instagram user @2muchsol3 recently shared further higher quality photos in which the “Cherry” or “Gym Red” iteration appears to be sporting a much brighter hue over its uppers in comparison to that seen in previous photos. It is arguable that back when Michael Jordan was still making appearances on the court as a part of the Chicago Bulls, he would have rocked a sneaker with a color combination like that of this one.
However, the fact of the matter is that the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Gym Red” actually resembles Michael Bibby’s Air Jordan 12 PE from his Atlanta Hawks days. As mentioned, the uppers of this sneaker are predominantly dressed up in a vibrant Gym Red Hue, while the heels panels and the outsoles that it is equipped with are plain White. Even the branding on this sneaker is covered in White, which includes the “Jumpman” logo and the “TWO 3” logo on the tongues. The heel portion of the soles also appears to have a tonal Red “23” engraved into it.
It has already been confirmed that the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Gym Red” will be among the very first Air Jordan releases 2016 of next month since it is scheduled to make its retail debut on July 2nd at a price of $190. However, Jordanheads who are reading this have the opportunity to own a Air Jordan 12 Retro “Gym Red” pair before hand if they pre-order this sneaker from NiceSole.com.
